Samsung Smart TVs to Run PlayStation Now Without Consoles in 2015

By next year, Sony plans to bring its PlayStation Now streaming services to Samsung smart TV sets, without the need of the actual console.

At some point in 2015, purchasing a Samsung smart TV won’t require you to hook up your PlayStation console to access PlayStation Now features. Subscribers to the service will simply be able to stream their games through an app on supported TV sets. Owners though will still require to bring their own DualShock 4 controllers, which will probably not be included with your TV purchase.

Currently Sony has announced to ship the app in the first half of 2015 and on select Samsung smart TVs. This is the first time that it’s being made available on a non-Sony device.

When released, users will be able to enjoy “the ability to earn in-game trophies, play games online with friends, and save your game progress in the cloud”.

You can head here to browse through the large list of PlayStation Now supported games, which will probably expand by next year.

PlayStation Now is currently in open beta and requires you to own a PS3, PS4, PS Vita or supported TV.
