STALKER Dev, GSC Gameworld is Back with New Game

By   /   Dec 23, 2014

You would remember GSC Gameworld, and even if you don’t I am sure you would remember STALKER series. The development studio called GSC Gameworld was actually the one that made the games in that series.

However, that was before the studio went kaboom. Sergei Grigorovich, the chief executive officer of the studio had suddenly dissolved the 200 employee strong company for “personal reasons.”

This had left many of us surprised.

However, that was not the only surprise that GSC Gameworld was to give its fans. They are back; alive and kicking; with a new game – and a new website.

Yes, that is true. GameIndustries.biz recently published an interview with the studio where a guy named Valentine Yeltyshev announced that they were back in business. The guy was a part of the original GSC Gameworld team that made STALKER and is now the spokesperson of the studio too.

He, apart from giving various (financial and personal) reasons for the abandonment of the studio and STALKER 2, said that they “realised that STALKER 2 was different. It was going to take too much time – by the time it was ready, it was definitely going to be out of date.”

However, that is all a thing of the past now and they are looking forward to something new this time around.

Valentine also revealed that they were working on an “old fashioned” game:

We’re pretty sure about our fans. The market we’re in is quite old fashioned, they’re not 16 year olds, they’re 25-40 years old. We don’t think free-to-play is the right model for the game we want to make. So we’re making an old-fashioned, full price game, we think our audience will be happy about that. We’re expecting a lot of our old audience!

We don’t really have anything else to share about their upcoming project, but it would be nice to hear what you guys think they are working on. Shout out in the comments below!
