Fork Parker’s Holiday Profit Hike Is Free On Steam
Publisher Devolver Digital has released another free game on Steam, called Fork Parker’s Holiday Profit Hike. It features the company’s mustached Machiavelli Chief Finance Officer, Fork Parker. It’s right there in the title.
Anyway, after it’s revealed at HQ that profits are down, the capitalist crusader embarks on a journey to get that sweet cash flowing. This prompts a 2D platform adventure in pixel art style.
Fork can do a few things: run, jump and throw a rope anchor. It’s possible to drop four anchors, which will hook a rope from one side to the other.
With the lines in place, Fork can use a cane to rappel, in order to overcome wide gaps filled with icy spikes that prick holes in bodies. Zipping on a rope is called rappelling, Devolver Digital, not repelling as in the art to keep Pokémon away.
Platform sections are pretty brutal right from the start. It is possible to jump on an ugly Christmas sweater or two, but aiming those anchors isn’t the easiest task in the world.
Fork Parker’s Holiday Profit Hike serves two promotional purposes. For one, the game joins the Steam line-up of Devolver Digital that currently has a large discount, due to the Holiday Steam sale.
Moreover, this game is made by developer Dodge Roll, who is currently also making Enter the Gungeon for the publisher. That latter game is a top-down dungeon crawler with tons of guns.
Fork Parker’s Holiday Profit Hike is the third free game from the company this year. Previously, Devolver Digital also launched Sigils of Elohim and The Expendabros as free titles.
