Evolve’s Open Beta is Arriving in January, Exclusively for Xbox One
Turtle Rock Studios’ 4v1 shooter EVOLVE will enter an open beta phase exclusively on Xbox One starting Jan. 15, 2015 with a limited technical test on PC and Playstation 4, the developer announced today.
Kicking off from Jan. 15, 2015, the beta will be open to everyone with an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Participants will have access to currently revealed Monsters (Goliath & Kraken), eight Hunters (Bucket, Markov, Val, Maggie, Hank, Griffin, Hyde, and Lazarus), as well as all twelve maps that will be available in the final version.
On Jan. 17, 2015, the game’s non-linear campaign ‘Evacuation’ mode, which is an agglomeration of all game modes and maps. In addition to this, players’ progress of the open beta will be carried to the final game. The developer has also stated that the purpose of this open beta is to stress-test the multiplayer server, so offline support will not be supported.
Playstation 4 users, who were invited to the game’s big alpha will be able to play the closed technical test which will not include ‘Evacuation’ mode and players’ progress will not be carried to the final game. Similarly, PC players who own a copy of Left 4 Dead, Bioshock: Infinite, or an invitation to Evolve’s big alpha will be able to participate in the limited technical test.
