PlayStation Vue Beta Invites Sent to Random PS Plus Members in US
Sony is stealthily sending out PlayStation Vue beta invites to a “small group of PlayStation Plus members” currently residing in New York city.
Sony’s actions were revealed through a screenshot of the invite that a Reddit user posted online yesterday. It made no mention of when the beta will actually begin and what features it will boast during its testing period.
PlayStation Vue was announced last month and is a new cloud-based TV service that will make its way on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Later Sony plans to bring it on iPad and other Sony and non-Sony devices.
The service will allow subscribers to access live TV and on-demand content without the need of having cable or satellite services. Users will be able to catch up on their shows for up to three days, without the need of scheduling recordings.
According to the original announcement, PlayStation Vue beta should launch with over 75 channels, including CBS, Fox, NBC, and Viacom. There’s still no word on its cost, except for a press release that mentioned Sony is working on a “fair and competitive” fee.
The service is set to launch officially in early 2015.
