Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Limited Edition Gets A New Date
There’s an update on the Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Limited Edition bundle that was previously delayed. A new date for the physical goods has been set on December 23, 2014.
Luckily for fans, the delay is only a week after the official launch of the fighter game on Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. Both the normal physical copies and the digital version on Playstation Network will arrive on December 16, 2014.
Publisher Aksys Games was forced to put off the elaborate Limited Edition due to an acute strike wave that hit two US ports, where materials for the collector’s item were getting shipped. Since the special version requires some complex resources, such as a box shaped like a tome, it left the company unable to complete shipping dates, until these strike issues were resolved.
More items included in the Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Limited Edition are a keychain, a soundtrack CD and an artbook.
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- is the fifth installment in a long-running series that started as far back as 1998 on PSOne. It features classic side-scrolling fighting action with a roster of characters in anime style visuals.
For this latest iteration, the game’s smooth pixel art is switched for more cel-shaded characters. Additionally, some camera angles break off the normal 2D plain for emphasized moves.
This might not be immediately apparent, but the game is being made with the Unreal Engine 3, which shows the versatility of the development tools. There’s more that can be achieved with the engine than the swarm of gritty, brown shooters that keep popping up everywhere.
