Enter the Gungeon Has Bullets That Fire Other Bullets
Dungeon crawler, Enter the Gungeon, is the latest entry for publisher Devolver Digital. It will come to Playstation 4 and PC in 2015.
Every reveal from Devolver Digital sounds like a bad B-movie pitched in the eighties, but man, we’ll be damned if they don’t have a way to get away with it in style. It also looks like they have a knack for finding the perfect mix of crazy idea filtered in a tight pixel art presentation.
In Enter the Gungeon, pretty much anything is focused on firearms. A team of misfits dives into perilous locations to retrieve a gun that can kill the past. That’s the actual plot.
Inside the dungeons, heroes will find enemies that are also live bullets. They’re bullets that walk around and shoot other guns that propel other bullets.
Players will also make use of a whole array of weapons. A gun can fire anything from rainbows, fish, lasers or bees. It certainly makes normal guns sound stupid.
Dexterity is heavily involved in Enter the Gungeon. Traps laid out in the dungeons will see heroes try to tumble across fire pits and spike traps.
Moreover, mobility is needed to overcome the cascade of ammunition that rains through any given area. Enter the Gungeon takes some cues from the bullet hell genre to really plaster a screen in projectiles.
Of course, like any good dungeon crawler, Enter the Gungeon will feature procedurally generated labyrinths that coincide with hand-crafted rooms.
There’s even a gun that has like this giant whip made of light? Where do they come up with this stuff?
