Dungeon Defenders 2 Is Console Exclusive To PS4, Devs Explain Why

By   /   Dec 6, 2014

Dungeon Defenders 2 arrived on Steam Early Access earlier this week and now the developers have revealed that it will be coming to PlayStation 4 as a console exclusive.

Sony seems to be on a roll since yesterday as it managed to get the exclusivity rights (apparently) of Street Fighter V, and the newly revealed Godzilla title.

Designer on the game, Philip Asher has explained why developers opted to go for console exclusivity on PS4.

Sony has been really good to work with for free-to-play games. We think it’s a good time to do it too. Free-to-play games weren’t really a feature of last-generation consoles, so we’re really excited to see that people can pick up this game for free on PS4 and start playing.

However, this does not mean that the game will stay exclusive to Sony’s new gen platform for lifetime as Philip hinted at a possible Xbox One version as well.

The support that indies get from Sony is exactly one of the reasons why we wanted to go with them. The people there are great, though that’s not like we’re saying the people at Xbox aren’t great.

Dungeon Defenders 2 is currently available on Steam in early stages, but developers haven’t mentioned when the title will be making its way to PS4.

Hopefully, all will be revealed later today at PlayStation Experience Event.
