Former Naughty Dog Art Director Nate Wells Joins Crystal Dynamics

By   /   Dec 1, 2014

It has come to light that Nate Wells, an industry veteran, has joined Crystal Dynamics as its new Art Director.

“Wow, you can actually smell trees up here. #crystaldynamics #firstday,” he tweeted today and in his way announced his joining.

There is currently no information on what Wells is currently working on but it’s a ‘very’ safe bet that he’ll be lending his expertise on the studio’s new Tomb Raider title, and titles for that matter if Wells doesn’t jump ship in the future.

Wells is known for his work in Irrational Games where he spent thirteen years. In August 2012 he left the company to join Naughty Dog and proceeded to work on the post-apocalyptic critical smash-hit, The Last of Us. This year in April he left Naughty Dog as its Art Director and joined Giant Sparrow where he worked on Unfinished Swan.

Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of the Tomb Raider is scheduled for release in Fall of 2015.

The Rise of the Tomb Raider is going to be timed exclusive for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Microsoft has stated that they wanted a franchise to rival Sony’s Uncharted and no one else can do that job better than Lara Croft.
