Batman: Arkham Knight – Developer Talks Suit and New Additions
Rocksteady Studios took part in a recent Ask Me Anything on Reddit, where the developer answered some questions about its upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight title.
Responding to a fan who asked why Batman’s new suit looks more robotic in nature when compared to previous installments, the developer said that it was necessary in order to accentuate the Batmobile.
“We wanted to highlight the interaction between Batman and the Batmobile – you’ll see that the suit mirrors the design of the car in a lot of ways. The new suit impacts gameplay as well, as it enhances some of Batman’s abilities, particularly in the way the Batman and the car work together.”
Elsewhere Rocksteady was asked about its favorite new addition to the game. The developer didn’t hesitate to point out the new open city as the main highlight of its game.
“The City design team here has done an amazing job building an environment that’s huge and intricately detailed. The detail in Arkham games was always my favourite thing about playing them before I joined Rocksteady, and it’s awesome that the guys have managed to keep that level of care on something so much bigger.”
It was also revealed that the game’s combat is being worked on to “look and feel awesome.” In previous Arkham installment, the combat has relatively stayed the same. In fact I’d say the voice overs and animations were the same as well. I never found this to be a problem because it was as satisfying landing a punch in the first title as it was in the last one.
In Batman: Arkham Knight, the team is working on the animations as well as the combat mechanics. The Predator Challenges are also being tweaked. “You’ll need to be a serious predator expert if you want to complete those sections without alerts,” said Rocksteady.
Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled for release on June 2 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
