Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Elite Four and Champion Battle Tips and Strategy

Before taking on the Elite Four, it is extremely important that you pay close attention to Elite-Four’s Pokemon and use the most effective moves against them. Aside from using TMs, make sure to pay Move Tutors in Mauville City, Fallarbor Town, and Sootopolis City a visit.

Another important thing to use against the Elite Four is items. You need to use items which will take away the weaknesses of your Pokemon. For instance, if your Pokemon has less Attack Speed or Agility, let him hold an item which will increase its Attack Speed or Agility.

Make sure to know the effects of different items before starting the battle. No matter how good you are in a battle, you always need to have healing items with you.

With these items at your disposal, make sure to restore your Pokemon’s HP after every battle and even use them to negate any status conditions on them. In addition to healing items, also stock items which provide your Pokemon with a temporary or permanent boost.

You can visit Slateport City’s Market or Lilycove City’s Departmental Store to buy such items. The last thing that you need to do is to use a Rare Candy if your Pokemon is not performing well against the Elite Four.

At a higher level, your Pokemon will become stronger and tackle its opponents in a much better way.

Sidney

Sidney uses a total of five Pokemon in his battle. I’ve broken down everything you need to know about Sidney’s Pokemon in the section below:

Mightyena is a Level-50 dark-type Pokemon which is vulnerable to fighting, bug, and fairy type attacks. Shiftry is a Level-50 grass/dark type Pokemon which is weak to bug, fire, ice, fighting, poison, flying, and fairy type attacks and opponents.

Sharpedo is another Level-50 water/dark type Pokemon which is weak to grass, electric, fighting, bug, and fairy type attacks. Cacturne is a Level-50 grass/dark type Pokemon which can be dealt with attacks based on bug, fire, ice, fighting, poison, flying, and fairy types.

The last Pokemon at Sidney’s disposal is Absol which is Level-52 dark-type. This Pokemon can easily be dealt with using fighting, bug, and fairy type attacks.

  • Mightyena
  • Shiftry
  • Sharpedo
  • Cacturne
  • Absol

Phoebe

All of Phoebe’s Pokemon are ghost-type which makes them immune to normal and fighting type attacks. What you need in order to win battle against Phoebe is dark-type. Always make sure to use dark-type attacks against her pure ghost-type Pokemon.

Phoebe has two Pokemon at her disposal – Dusclops and Dusknoir – which contain the Pressure Ability. By using Pressure Ability, Phoebe is able to cause your Pokemon to lose PP with every move. When this ability is combined with Spite, it can reduce your Pokemon’s PP in a drastic manner.

You need to well-equipped with Ethers and Elixirs to restore your Pokemon’s PP and keep the battle going! Here’s a complete list of Phoebe’s Pokemon:

  • Sableye
  • Banette 2x
  • Dusclops
  • Dusknoir

Glacia

During the battle against Glacia, you need to avoid using grass, ground, flying, or dragon type Pokemon since her Pokemon are vastly ice-type. The couple of Glalie at her disposal use Hail which damages your Pokemon for five turns. Additionally, her Froslass use Confuse Ray which increases the chances of your own Pokemon hurting them.

It is highly recommended that you are well-equipped with items like Persim Berry, Lava Cookie, Full Heal, or a Full Restore.

For a quick finish, you can go with fire-type moves, but you need to worry about Walrein’s Surf move. Ideally, you should be using a fire-type Pokemon which knows fighting, rock, and steel type attacks. Here’s a complete list of Glacia’s Pokemon:

  • Glalie 2x
  • Froslass 2x
  • Walrein

Drake

The final of the Elite Four is Drake who relies of dragon-type Pokemon to dominate the battlefield. You will note that most of Drake’s Pokemon are weak against dragon, fairy, and ice type attacks.

I would highly recommend using Pokemon like Latios or Latias for a quick finish. Additionally, you can also use Mega Evolution to give your Latios/Latias a huge advantage.

One important thing that you need to keep in mind is that Drake is able to put your Pokemon under various status conditions. Kingdra is able to use Yawn which makes your Pokemon fall into sleep.

His couple of Flygon use Supersonic which causes confusion and can decrease your Pokemon’s Defense by using Screech.

Finally, it will also use Earthquake ability against your Pokemon. This ability can easily be countered by using a Pokemon which can use Levitate ability. Here is a complete list of Pokemon which Drake uses:

  • Kingdra
  • Flygon 2x
  • Altaria
  • Salamence

Steven

Once you have beaten the Elite Four, you will be able to challenge Hoenn’s Champion. Unlike the Elite Four, Steven uses a wide array of different Pokemon which do not share a common weakness.

Due to this fact, you will constantly be changing your strategy by switching between different Pokemon throughout the battle.

How to Defeat Steven
Skarmory has an extremely high defense stat which can negate physical damage. It is better to use special moves to deal high amount of damage to this Pokemon. Also, make sure to use Antidote as soon as Skarmory poisons your Pokemon.

Coming to Aggron, it also contains an extremely high defense and Dragon Claw ability which can dish out high damage to all dragon-type Pokemon. Make sure not to put your dragon-type Pokemon against Aggron and stick to fighting or ground type ones.

Next up is Claydol which can easily boost its party’s Special Defense and Normal Defense stats for five turns. The only way to deal with this is to destroy the defensive barrier created by Clydol by using TM31 Brick Break from the Black Blet in Sootopolis City.

Cradily has quite a lot of deadly tricks up its sleeve. It can not only poison your Pokemon, but also put them under confuse status condition which will make your Pokemon hurt them. These things can easily be countered by using Lava Cookies, Full Heals, or Full Restore. Just make sure to replenish before entering the battle.

Armaldo is able to use Crush Claw which not only has a high damage output, but it also leads to lowering your Pokemon’s Defense stat. You need to constantly use items which increase your defense stats in order to negate the effects of this ability.

Lastly, when you counter Mega Metagross, make sure to do so with a Pokemon having high HP and Defense stats. You need to constantly heal your Pokemon and use items which will increase its Defense stats further.

I would recommend using such things during the resting phase of Mega Metagross which it acquires after using Giga Impact.
