Far Cry 4 Patch 1.0.4 Fixes The Black/Grey Screen Issues But Causes Some Trouble

By   /   Nov 25, 2014

Far Cry 4 black screen patch 1.4.0 which was delayed last weekend has now been released.

The patch is focused on the black and grey screen issues that a large number of PC players have been encountering whenever a USB is connected.

Ubisoft did provide a workaround suggesting that players should disconnect any USB device and certain drivers when playing the game. However, this did not work well for a lot of players, which is why a permanent fix was needed.

As mentioned before, the patch only addresses the black and grey screen issues for the PC players.

  • Fixed the “black screen” issue PC players were experiencing when certain USB peripherals were plugged in.
  • Fixed the “grey screen” issue some PC players were may have encountered after the Outpost Master Mission.

The launch of this patch hasn’t gone as smoothly as Ubisoft would have hoped, some users on the forums have reported that Uplay is auto reverting the patch to 1.3.0, while other players have reported crashes and other issues.

Another player reported on Reddit that after updating successfully, he has been unable to get any sound in Far Cry 4.

Ubisoft is on a very thin ice since the launch of Watch Dogs which was visually downgraded and then Assassin’s Creed: Unity faced several serious issues and now, Far Cry 4 has been causing problems.

With The Crew coming out in next month, and Ubisoft restricting reviews to come out before the release date, we suggest that you hold back until the game has been greenlit by the users as bug free.
