Final Fantasy 14 : A Realm Reborn is The Latest Victim of DDoS Attack

By   /   Nov 19, 2014

DDoS attacks have been on the rise lately. The recent examples include Sony and World of Warcraft. However, the latest victim on the list is Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn.

The game is currently suffering from server and login issues because of a DDoS attack. In these types of situations, all developers can do is release a statement to assure the community that they are working hard to resolve the issue. Square Enix has done the same.

The company explained the situation in a post:

“Our game servers, network equipment and network connection are being hit with heavy load at an extensive level, which is causing a disconnection from the game and login difficulties.”

The post further stated:

“Our technical staff is taking every possible measure to address this issue but the attack is still continuing to take place by changing their methods at every moment. We will continue to monitor and work on recovery from every possible angle.”

The attacks are targeted towards the server in which character data and personal information of players is stored. Square Enix has assured fans that the data is not at risk, and no information is or will be compromised.

We will keep you updated as soon as the story develops. What is your take on DDoS attacks? Why are companies failing to protect their network? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
