New Footage of Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign Shows First 5 Minutes of Story

By   /   Nov 14, 2014

Arc System Works has released a new footage of their upcoming fighting game, Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign, the fifth title of the franchise. The footage shows the first 5 minutes of the game’s story mode and was mainly released to highlight the new 3D storytelling method.

The game takes place in 2187, one year after the events of its predecessor, Guilty Gear 2: Overture. While the arcade version that was released in February 2014 had 13 playable characters, the console version will have more, some of them returning from previous games.

Built on Unreal Engine 3, Guilty Gear Xrd uses cell-shaded graphics unlike the previous installments which allows for more dynamic camera movements.

Players in the game’s story will be investigating a mysterious organization known as The Senate which has teamed up with Ramlethal Valentine, one of the antagonists from the game.

Earlier this week, Arc System Works also shed some light on other details about the game, including details about a downloadable character Leo Whitefang and the fact that open lobbies in the game can hold up to 64 players at a time!

Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign is scheduled to release for PS3 and PS4 on December 4th in Japan and December 16th in North America.
