Halo franchise since its launch has been one of the main reasons behind the success of Xbox consoles, and it seems the trend will continue for the next two decades.

343 Industries has revealed that they have planned out Halo franchise for next 20 years. Speaking to CVG, producer Bonnie Ross explained that 343 Industries is purposefully built to work on Halo.

We are a purpose-built studio, we are built for Halo. One of the things I did when I first started the studio, was to make us the steward of Halo.

Bungie just managed the game and then centralized groups made the books and things. I asked, as part of bringing 343 to life, to have everything under Halo.

She continued on to mention that it was very important to have all the elements of Halo under the banner of 343 Industries, so that they could devise a long-term plan for the series.

For me, that was incredibly important – I wasn’t looking at just the next Halo game, I was looking at the next 20 years of Halo.

When you’re thinking about it that way, you have to think about what sandbox you’re playing in, what stories you’re going to tell – I think you have to own everything. For us, it’s about how we build that universe.

Ross wants the Halo series to be as large as Star Wars, Lords of the Rings or Harry Potter. She wants the universe to be so big that hundreds of stories can be a part of it.

In the end, she teased that there are some stories that are currently being worked on at the studios, with new ideas still under consideration. Rest assured, we will be seeing a lot of Halo for at least next two decades.

Upcoming entry in the series, Halo 5: Guardians will enter its multiplayer beta this December, and to get access; you will need to purchase the recently launched Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
