New Batch of Amiibo Figurines Will Feature Sonic, Megaman, Shulk and More

By   /   Nov 11, 2014

Now that Wii U’s latest system update 5.3 has added the support for Amiibo figurines, there’s nothing stopping Nintendo from announcing another awesome batch of these collectibles.

The first wave of these figures is expected to hit the shelves either with the release of Super Smash Bros. Wii U or shortly after that. Nintendo has also revealed the second wave which is expected in January 2015.

And now, the latest announcement by the company is regarding the third wave of Amiibo figurines.

That’s right, we will be seeing the third batch of these figurines getting released by the end of February. The new set includes Mega Man, Sonic and Shulk. You can check them all out here.

In Japan, these figures will retail for 1,200 yen but there is no confirmation on their price in the west. However, considering the first wave is priced at $12.99 each, it’s more than likely that these figures will also retail for the same price.

Nintendo’s Amiibo figurines are a little bit different from our usual collectibles as they actually do something for us, other than sitting on a desk/shelf and looking pretty.

These adorable figures are able to store game data through NFC and will support various Nintendo games such as Super Smash Bros and more.

“In Super Smash Bros.™ for Wii U, you can battle, train, and level-up your amiibo figures. Create your own unique amiibo by adjusting its stats and by adjusting their attack, defense, and speed.”

So which one of these awesome figures are you going to pick up? Let us know in the comments below!
