Mortal Kombat X: 30 Minutes of Gameplay Shows Character Variations
Netherrealm Studios has shared more than 30 minutes of gameplay footage from PS4/Xbox One version of Mortal Kombat X. The footage shows many of the announced characters battling it out and using their different variations for Kombat.
Introduced in Mortal Kombat X, character variation is a new type of gameplay mechanic. Each character in MK X will have three different variations, which can be selected while choosing your character.
Each variation can feature a unique set of moves, weapons or ability, which will be exclusive to that variation. For example, Quan Chi can be seen in the footage above, using his Sorcerer variation.
By choosing Quan Chi’s Sorcerer variation, players are able to cast magical fields or use this variation to cripple their opponents.
Quan Chi’s other two variations include Warlock (use portals for additional attacks) and Summoner (summon Netherrealm Bat into the battlefield). We can also see Raidan use his variations to take down Kotal Kahn.
Players should note here that the above footage is from the same build shown at Gamescom so the final build of this title might be different.
Variations will add a fresh variety to the game’s combat system and will make players strategize and think carefully about which variation to use against a certain enemy.
Mortal Kombat X is slated for an April 2015 release on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
