Assassin’s Creed Unity Suffers From Frame-Rate Issues on Consoles

Ubisoft came under fire just a few weeks ago when it was revealed that the game would run at 900p on both PS4 and Xbox One. Many fans believed that Ubisoft intentionally held back the PS4 version due to its Xbox One counterpart.

Now that the game is finally available in the market, it seems as though Ubisoft again might become a topic of a heated debate.

Assassin’s Creed Unity launched today but thanks to some retailers who broke the street date; early copies of the game have been out in the wild since yesterday.

According to a few players who have played the game on PS4 and Xbox One. The game suffers from some serious frame-rate issues. One of these fans stated his opinion about the PS4 version on Reddit:

“Seriously I get the game is massive, but jesus the framerate in this game is atrocious, It’s not even close to a locked 30 fps, it feels like it’s running at 20 something most of the time and I’ve had it drop way below that a couple of times already.”

If he was the only one, I wouldn’t be writing this article would I?

Another player reported that he had been experiencing frame-rate drops frequently whenever a large crowd is on screen and asked if there was any fix for this. Sadly, there isn’t.

These were a few examples from the PS4 side of things, same is the case with the Xbox One version of Assassin’s Creed Unity. One of the fans stated:

“I got it with my Xbox bundle. I just started it, and it runs sub 30 frames per second constantly. I would advise to wait until its fixed or not buy it at all. It is practically unplayable.”

The game is now officially released, and thousand of fans will grab a copy in the coming days. To what extent this problem is affecting users will be further cleared in the next couple days as more and more players try out the game.
