Possible Reason For Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Lag in Multiplayer
Alright ever since Call of Duty Advanced Warfare was launched numerous players have been raising a havoc all over the Internet about the lag that they are facing.
So far, we have seen that the issue is not platform-based or even region-based, but the real reason behind the lag has not been identified whatsoever.
Though there is some speculation about it which I will be sharing with you in this article.
I stumbled upon this Reddit thread today where a user has posted a screenshot of multiple code lines taken from Advanced Warfare that are hinting that there might be a connection between how the game does the matchmaking and the resulting lag.
We know that the dedicated servers are going to take a while, and until then we are all by ourselves.
According to this theory, it is possible that the game is giving preference to the most suitable skill levels when connecting the players instead of considering the strongest connections.
This way, you might get connected to players who are at the same skill level as you but the game would ignore the connection quality, ping or proximity of their location to yours. In many cases, this could result in a very weak link and a lot of lag.
However, there is a flip side to this. While all this is probable, we don’t have enough evidence to support the fact that the game is actually basing the matchmaking entirely on your skill rating.
The only thing we have to support us on that are the lines of code, but in all honesty. there could be dozens of other factors involved.
We don’t know when or what the said variable applies, and we also don’t see from the code if it has priority over everything else.
Although the chance is slim, but this could very well be, one of the possible reasons why we are facing the lag, but there is no guarantee.
