The Lost Vikings Make Way to Heroes of the Storm, Closed Beta Dated
All three of The Lost Vikings are going to make their way to Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard president and co-founder Mike Morhaime announced at BlizzCon 2014 today.
The Lost Vikings was originally released in 1992 for the SNES. The platformer was then later over the years ported over to the Sega Genesis and Game Boy Advance.
The game featured three vikings (Erik, Baleog and Olaf) who have to work together to escape the clutches of the kidnapping aliens and find a way back home. Each one has a unique ability. Erik can run faster, jump and bash through walls.
Baleog can kill enemies with his sword, or from a distance with his bow. Olaf can block enemies and their projectiles with his shield. He can also use it to glide down to platforms or boost his comrades to otherwise unreachable areas.
The announcement trailer, which was released during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2014, also revealed two new maps called Sky Temple and Tomb of the Spider Queen. The addition of Ranked Play was also mentioned alongside new skins and the official debut of Jaina Proudmoore.
Blizzard also announced that a closed beta for the multiplayer online battle arena game will commence from January 13, 2015.
