Steam UK Pulls Back Ubisoft’s New Games Until Further Notice
Ubisoft’s upcoming titles for the year are no longer listed on Steam in the UK and will remain so until further notice.
The studio currently has three major releases planned for the year – Assassin’s Creed: Unity, The Crew and Far Cry 4. In a statement passed on to PCGamesN, Ubisoft confirmed that the games will not be available for purchase on Steam in the UK but things may change soon.
“We’ve been in discussions with Valve about Assassin’s Creed Unity but for the time being the game is not available via Steam in the UK,” the developer said about the game specifically. “In the meantime, UK customers wishing to purchase the game digitally can do so by visiting the Uplay store, our retail partners or other digital distributors.”
Neither party has revealed as to why the games will not be featured on the popular digital platform. It’s assumed that the dispute is over the price factor where Ubisoft’s new titles would be far more expensive to purchase on Steam.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity will release on November 13 in Europe. Seems pretty unlikely that this issue will be resolved by then but here’s hoping that it does so for our UK brethren for Far Cry 4 and The Crew, which release on November 20 and December 2 respectively.
