Big Huge Games is Alive and Developing DomiNations

Big Huge Games has been brought back from the dead and is currently developing a new strategy game called DomiNations for mobile devices.

The game is a free-to-play title for mobile devices that will feature microtransactions. Players will start their own civilizations from the Stone Age and venture forward in the ages. During this time they will form alliances and conquer opposing nations.

The game is in development for both iOS and Android, and is looking at a release sometime in 2015. DomiNations looks to be borrowing the same formula of Clash of Clans and the Civilization series.

Can’t really say that’s a bad idea. Clash of Clans is a very high grossing title on the mobile devices and most addicting as well.

It’s great to see Big Huge Games revived. The studio was shut down in 2012 after its owner 38 Studios closed its doors. This was also right after it released Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, a single-player action role-playing game that was deemed a failure.

However, strangely enough sales picked up after the studio’s collapse but by then it was too late. Personally I never could understand why the title has always been marked as a complete failure.

True it had its downsides but in all Kingdoms of Amalur was a pretty decent title. It’s currently in the hands of co-founder Brian Reynolds who made the winning bid for the studio’s rights back in March 2013.
