The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Opening Cinematic Sets the Tone

By   /   Oct 24, 2014

Today saw CD Projekt RED release the open CGI cinematic of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Titled “The Trail,” the video was released at the Golden Joysticks award show today which was held in London. The latest installment in the Witcher series also managed to pick up the prize in the “Most Wanted” category, a most unsurprising turn of events.

The open cinematic shows Geralt and his mentor Vesemir in pursuit of Yennefer of Vengerberg, the sorceress which players would remember from the previous iterations.

The monster hunter’s long lost love is on the run and here we see her manage to make it past the Temerian Kingdom’s capital city of Vizima.

“Foreshadowing the story of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, ‘The Trail’ Opening Cinematic is an epic sneak peek into the adventure that awaits gamers in Wild Hunt,” said the developer. “See witchers Geralt of Rivia and his mentor Vesemir pursue Geralt’s long lost love, the immensely powerful, raven-black-haired sorceress — Yennefer of Vengerberg.”

The cinematic quality is top notch but I do have to say that Yennefer’s portrait could had been shown much better. Geralt though looks better than ever.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set for release on February 24 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
