Outlast 2 Confirmed to be in Development by Red Barrels

By   /   Oct 24, 2014

Outlast was one of the best horror games to see the light of day last year and now, Red Barrels has confirmed that the development on Outlast 2 has already begun.

Speaking to Bloody Disgusting, Red Barrels’ co-founder Philippe Morin stated that after the development on the original game was done, they felt like doing another horror title.

It’s important for us to be passionate about whatever we’re working on, because we believe it’s the only way to achieve quality. After shipping the XB1 version of Outlast, we took some time to analyze our situation and we quickly realized we had at least another horror game in us.

So, yes, we are working on Outlast 2.

After the success of the first game and its DLC, the sequel was inevitable but this time, developers are looking to take the game out of the asylum and bring something fresh into it.

Morin stated that the sequel will take place in the first game’s universe but the setting, characters and overall theme will be completely different.

However, don’t expect the sequel to release anytime soon because the development team just consists of 12 members, so it will take its sweet time to come out, but Morin promises that the wait will be worth it.

We will see what Outlast 2 has is store for when developers finally unveil it. As for now, you can play the original Outlast or Whistleblower DLC which are a treat for any horror genre fan.

What changes would you like to see in the sequel? Let us know!
