More Spin-Offs Like Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China Planned By Ubisoft
Well, people have been criticizing Ubisoft for quite some time for releasing an Assassin’s Creed game every year, and they responded with deciding to release two of them in 2014 – AC: Rogue and AC: Unity.
As it happens, they didn’t stop at that; upon getting the season pass of Unity, you will get yet another AC game called Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China.
This 2.5D side-scroll adventure will put you in the shoes of Shao Jun, who had appeared in the novelization of Assassin’s Creed: Embers and Assassin’s Creed: Revelation.
The idea for Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China came from the popular Mark of the Ninja title as stated by the creative director, Alex Amancio:
We really liked the side-scrolling idea, like Mark of the Ninja, and we thought it would be a really great way to explore some of the other universes we’ve created.
One thing that’s really cool is that every one of the chapters of this game will be in the art style representative of that era in time. This is why Shao Jun’s game is like Chinese ink – very black and red.
Once we have other characters and timeframes the art style will completely change to match that specific character.
Ubisoft doesn’t want to stop just here with this 2.5D game, as Amancio hinted that more popular characters will make an appearance in this chronicles series.
I don’t want to spoil the surprise but the idea is that we have this rich universe – we’re going to use it.
Despite so many Assassin’s Creed titles out there, demand for the series keeps on increasing because with every single entry, developers bring something new to the table, which keep things fresh for the players.
Recent report shows that more than 77 million copies of the franchise has been sold thus far, and with two more titles lined up to release next month, you can expect this figure to rise even more.
