Dragon Quest Heroes Gets DQVIII Jessica And Yangus

Publisher Koei Tecmo has announced a few more characters for Dragon Quest Heroes, the action spinoff to the classic roleplaying game (RPG) series. In particular, two characters from the lauded Playstation 2 iteration, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, will make a reappearance.

One of those characters is Jessica, the whip-cracking puff-puff expert that accompanies the main character in the game. Yoichi Erikawa, CEO of Koei Tecmo, jokingly stated the following about the addition:

I’m always getting my butt slapped by my wife, but I’d also like to try using a whip.

The second announcement for Dragon Quest Heroes is the floppy Cockney, Yangus. Yuji Horii, creator of Dragon Quest, had a similar joking statement about this addition:

The Dragon Quest series has a lot of old guys. So, if we don’t have some in now, if we were to make a second game for it, then it’d be full of old guys.

Is that the bells confirming a sequel for Dragon Quest Heroes, we hear? Maybe not; let’s not get too carried away, since the first isn’t even made yet.

Still, since Dragon Quest Heroes is essentially Dynasty Warriors in a different franchise and those games come in a lot of versions, it wouldn’t be unsurprising either. It is a compilation of characters already though, it’d be hard to pull that off twice with the same quality.

Yangus and Jessica are probably the best possible additions, if you ask us. Dragon Quest Heroes is only announced for Japanese regions, so far, but now we’d really like to see some localization news.

Dragon Quest Heroes will launch in spring of 2015 for Playstation 4 and Playstation 3.
