Nintendo Gives a Balancing Factor in Industry, Says Sony Boss

Nintendo has always maintained an identity of their own; they don’t always do a lot of games but when they do, they make sure it is a head turner. This has earned them respect all around even with their competitors.

Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony worldwide studios is known to be fond of Nintendo, Wii U and the games that they make. Even this time he had a very positive opinion about them.

When asked about the role of Nintendo in an otherwise military titles obsessed market, he said that Nintendo has actually helped balance the trends:

I was very happy to get a very positive reaction when we announced LittleBigPlanet 3. We are concerned a little bit when we work on a game like LittleBigPlanet 3, about how people will react, because people want those big-budget, realistic, military shooters. But there were lots of cheers, a lot of affection.

And the reaction to Nintendo’s games in general, or a game like Splatoon. If you look at the whole industry, and you consider Nintendo, I think the balance is actually better than past years.

That being said, it doesn’t mean Sony believes that they are nor adding variety to the industry, in fact they think the opposite.

Oh and fun fact, Yoshida is such a fan that he personally owns two Wii U consoles!

Don’t you think it is actually great they do what they do best instead of following what every other commercialized developer is doing?

Also, what do you say, shouldn’t the trend of the industry be a bit towards the kind of approach that Nintendo has maintained when it comes to making games?
