As expected, Monster Hunter 4G opened up in Japan with a bang as more than 1.4 million copies of the game were sold in just one week.

The sales figure for the newly released title come from Media Create, who also predicted that it will surpass the two million mark by the end of third week.

Despite its incredible score, Monster Hunter 4G couldn’t go past its predecessor which sold more than 1.7 million copies in its first week.

Capcom has very high hopes for its new game as they expect the sales to reach 4 million by March of 2015.

The Japanese sales of the game will continue on to grow in the coming days due to the popularity of the series and when it is released in other regions in early 2015, the sales are expected to rise even more.

To raise awareness about Monster Hunter series, Capcom is going to hold different events starting with “KariCon – Let’s go hunting with MH4G” which is going to take place later this month. After that, more events of this sort will also be held next year to increase the hype for western release.

Monster Hunter 4G is available now in Japan, exclusively for Nintendo 3DS.
