Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn Expansion Announced

The first expansion of Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn, Heavensward has been announced. According to Square Enix, Heavensward will be made available in spring 2015.

The exciting news was revealed by Naoki Yoshida the director of Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn during his keynote at the Final Fantasy XIV Fanfest in Las vegas. You can check it out on Twitch here.

The expansion will be a part of update 3.0 and is aiming to raise the level cap from 50 to 60. Also, Heavensward expansion will bring along new dungeons, primals, jobs and high end raids.

Heavensward will also introduce a new race. There is no information regarding which race it will be but Yoshida has put an end to the rumors suggesting that the it will be Viangaa.

Players of the game will also have the ability to build their own airships in order to explore Ishgard and other new areas of the game including Dravania.

Speaking of the Ishgard, the plot of this new expansion will focus on a thousand year war between Ishgard and Dravania.

In order to separate the common from the privileged, the city of Ishgard is physically divided. Ishgard is ruled by an archbishop and four noble horses. Also, another plot in the Heavenward expansion emphasizes on Wyrmking and his conflicts with Thordun and his Knights Twelve.

Square Enix has stated that more news regarding Heavensward expansion will be in London during the Fan festival starting October 25.
