Toadette Is Playable In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will see Toadette join the game as a playable character. Nintendo confirmed this today, after posting one of the most charming trailers to ever introduce story and gameplay elements of the game.
Toadette first appeared on Gamecube in Mario Kart: Double Dash. She’s the pink, poly-tailed iteration of Toad, kind of like Sassette in The Smurfs.
The character will need to be unlocked, so both Toads aren’t available at the beginning. Some won’t like the traditional plot, but Toadette starts off “damseled,” when a giant bird, called Wingo, takes off with Toad’s friend, as well as a Power Star.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will feature over 70 puzzle stages, with a lot of location diversity, such as underwater stages and boss fights. Since Toad can’t jump, obstacles need to be overcome by rotating around the level to see where the next path can be opened.
Originally, the puzzle design of the game was used in Super Mario 3D World on Nintendo Wii U. As such, a lot of the imagery and gameplay elements reflect that prior release as well.
For instance, Toad will be able to pick up cherries that create a duplicate of the character, which can be used to split up and activate separate buttons. Other similarities can be seen in enemies like slithering piranha plants or pecking birds.
Additionally, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker has come up with a release date for Europe. Unlike North America, which will get the game this year, on December 5, Europe will need to wait until January 9, 2015 to grab the game.
