Price Cut Helps Xbox One Outsell PS4 in UK
The PlayStation 4 may have been running circles around the Xbox One in terms of sale but it looks like the recent price cut from Microsoft have helped the company outsell the competition.
Last week the price of the Xbox One was cut down in the UK to just a notch below the retail price of the PS4.
According to a report from MCV, that price cut has helped Xbox One sales jump 155 percent in the last week to edge past the PS4, which is currently enjoying an eighty percent rise in weekly sales.
The recent release of Destiny helped the PS4 sales in UK jump by 300 percent in the week that ended September 13. Sony stated that these were the highest hardware numbers they have seen since the console’s release last year. Destiny helped PS4 sell two units for every one Xbox One console.
In other news related to sales, the new release of FIFA 15 has topped the UK software chart during this week. This franchise really is turning out to be the goose that lays the golden eggs for EA.
According to Chart-Track, the PS4 version of the game accounted for 32 percent of total sales in the first week. The Xbox 360 edition was closely behind with 30 percent, while the Xbox One and PS3 versions accounted for 22 and 15 percent respectively.
Exact figures are unknown but Metro claims that the PS4 version outsold the Xbox One edition by 100,000 physical units. Reports on the digital sale is unknown.
