Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Record Over 239,000 Pre-Orders in Japan
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire have already establish a strong presence in Japan and the two games haven’t even been released yet.
Pre-orders for the two Pokemon titles opened last week and according to a report by Media Create have reached 239,000 pre-orders within the first two days. Suffice to say, these numbers are increasing each day.
The impressive figures come as no surprise following the long lines of fans standing in queue last week just to pre-order the game. Images from the Pokemon Center in Tokyo re-tweeted by Director Junichi Masuda showed massive crowds waiting patiently for their turn at the titles.
Compared to the previous Pokemon X and Y titles, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are performing as well as the previous titles did nine weeks before release. However, Pokemon X and Y ended up selling over 4.1 million copies in Japan in the first two days.
Whether Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be able to reach that figure in the first week remains to be seen. If we’ve learned anything from the Japanese Pokemon community, it is that they are always eager for new titles in the franchise. The latest two offerings will probably hit the same milestone, if not a bigger one.
