OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood Splits Routes, Adds Tricks, Gets Multiplayer
It may seem like the first game is only just out of production, but OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood is now also reported as being in development. We’d like that idea on the basis of that stupid yet genius subtitle alone.
Since the original was already quite tight and packed as an arcade title, it’s hard to think that OlliOlli 2 will be able to add a lot to it, though there is more content planned. For starters, the whole thing is done in a new engine.
Some of the most important gameplay changes include ramps that can be used to catch mad air. There are also Epic Hills or even the addition of split routes.
To chain combos together, you’ll get access to more moves, such as manuals, reverts or grind switches. There will be 540 tricks to perform, animated with over 9000 additional frames in a straightened visual style.
As a cherry on top, OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood will feature local multiplayer on Playstation 4 and PS Vita. Up to four people will try to go for a score attack in a set time limit.
For the game’s scope, OlliOlli 2 takes a bit of inspiration from Joe Danger and adds movie filming pitches to justify its many action scenes. There will also be a better level editor for players to toy with.
According to a Playstation Blog post, OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood was picked up by Sony with blind faith. A sequel was ok’ed before the first title had proven it success, though it certainly ultimately did.
