Dota 2 Diretide Event Not Happening This Year, Says Valve
Do you remember how ecstatic things are when we have these awesome events like Dota 2 Diretide event? Well I do and I am pretty sad that this year we won’t get any of that – the news came in through a post relating to the Rekindling Soul Update being made by Valve right now.
At the end of the post, the developers said that they are currently working on multiple updates for the game some of which are supposed to go out this year while others will come out next year.
Then they went on to say that if they put their efforts into the Dota 2 Diretide Event for this year, it would make it impossible to make progress on the larger updates:
We’re pretty sure we won’t be able to make enough progress on the larger update if we put it down to work on Diretide – so we’ve decided that we’re not going to ship a Diretide event this year. We know that last year we weren’t clear enough in our communication about this, so this year we wanted to be up front about it early. Next year will bring monumental changes to Dota 2, and we’re confident that when you’ve seen what we’ve been working on, you’ll agree it was worth it.
Those who don’t know, Dota 2 Diretide is actually a Halloween event that is held every year around these months. Last year, the event was held for two weeks starting from November 14, 2013 while the 2012 event was held on October 30, 2012.
Will you miss the Halloween festivities that Dota 2 Diretide is supposed to bring to the game?
