Discovery Update Brings Some Big Changes to Steam
So called Discovery Update has revamped the Steam homepage giving it a new look and will improve the way you connect with the available library of games. Based on past purchases and playing habits the new homepage will recommend games for you similar to Amazon and Netflix.
A new Curator system is introduced and you can search for the most popular curators and follow them to see what they recommend.
Recommendations from curators you follow will appear in your activity feed and homepage as well. Curators can be individuals or companies who want to share their views about different games.
If you are interested in sharing your opinions about your favorite or not so favorite games, then you can be a curator too. All you have to do is create a community group or use an existing group and use it to make recommendations as yourself.
With over 3,700 games now available on Steam, which games to buy and which are the most popular will be the question. To help with that Steam has introduced the “Discovery Queue” .
The queue will help you explore the most popular new releases, you browse through the games that have been suggested for you, follow it, buy it or simply indicate that you are not interested.
If you are looking for something specific then Steam’s new and powerful search engine will help out. The search result page will narrow down your results with new filtering controls.
Steam community and library has grown rapidly over the years and the number of active users have gone past 100 million while over 1,300 games have so far been added this year.
