World of Tanks Will Get Special Tank Rally Race Mode

While there’s always a ton of updated content to around in World of Tanks, the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game does focus mostly on one thing: Blasting tanks. Well, company Wargaming has been preparing a new game mode and is ready to unveil the production of Tank Rally.

It’s exactly what it sounds like. Instead of shooting each other across various battlefields, the game will now use vehicles to race against each other in laps. Since the free-to-play title has always had heightened mobility to improve its pace, it makes sense to go that route.

Those who come to World of Tanks for action don’t need to panic, however, as there will be combat to be had in Tank Rally as well. It’s not enough to just maneuver your vehicle through tight curves and over obstacles; you also have to make sure you blow your opponents off the track while cruising around.

A hype trailer for the Tank Rally mode sees tanks speeding across a reworked version of the Port location, bouncing over obstacles and even leaping over hills, as they shoot each other to bits. You’ll be able to find the new game mode on September 29, 2014.

Tank Rally will be played with a custom built M24 Chaffee Sport, which is granted to all registered users for free. Be quick to get into the special event though, since it the game mode won’t be around forever, but will only be available until October 13, 2014.

It’s pretty impressive to see World of Tanks pack so much in its game in just a few years. It originally release in 2010.
