Final Fantasy XIII Releases for PC Next Month
The Final Fantasy XIII series will be coming to the PC, Square Enix has announced.
The first title in the series, Final Fantasy XIII, will release on the Windows platform this October 19 via Steam. It will be priced at $15.99 / £10.99 / €12.99. Pre-ordering now though will earn you a 10 percent discount.
Even without the discounted price, Final Fantasy XIII is still being offered at a very low cost. Similar to other titles on Steam, the game will have its own set of Steam Trading Cards, and will probably feature support for Steam’s cloud saves.
The next titles in the series – Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns will be available by next spring.
Final Fantasy XIII was originally released for the console in March 2010. It has so far shipped over 11 million units worldwide so far. Expect those numbers to rise even higher with the advent of the PC versions.
The existence of Final Fantasy XIII on the PC was outed a couple of days ago when some players spotted a Steam logo on the game’s portal website. Currently PC players already have Final Fantasy III, VII, VIII and A Realm Reborn. It was only time before Square Enix brought the XIII trilogy over.
Tokyo Game Show begins tomorrow. Expect the game to be showcased there. We’ll probably get a new trailer and possibly new details.
