Sony to Offer Unity Pro to PlayStation Licensed Devs for Free

At Tokyo Game Show, Sony Computer Entertainment and Unity Technologies have announced that they will be offering Unity Pro Engine to all licensed Playstation developers free of cost.

The Engine will be used for game development on Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita.

“Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) and Unity Technologies, provider of the Unity multi-platform engine and development tools, having originally entered into a strategic partnership in March, 2013 to provide Unity for PlayStation®, today announced that they have extended and strengthened that strategic partnership to offer Unity Pro for PlayStation® for PlayStation®4, PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®Vita at no additional cost to all PlayStation licensed developer”

Unity is currently being used in the development for many games such as Ori and The Blind Forest, Lumo, Endless Legend, Armello and Dead Core. With more features, Playstation developers will now be able to enhance the performance of their upcoming projects.

Microsoft has already taken over Majong in a $2.5bn deal after Notch the creator of the hugely popular Minecraft felt that the project in just too big of a responsibility.
