PDP Has Made Lopsided Mortal Kombat X Controllers, Check Them Out
If the Sega Genesis and Xbox controllers ever mated, the outcome would have been something as weird as the new Mortal Kombat X controllers that PDP has designed. However, I am not hating; I am just saying that the controller is as lopsided as a controller can be.
At the GameStop Expo recently, PDP showed off the controllers and some pictures were shared on Instagram later. As you can see from the image above and below, the Mortal Kombat X controller doesn’t have a D-pad as well as one analog stick. Instead it comes packing bigger buttons. Oh and don’t forget that it also has only one handle.
According to the said Instagram post, these controllers are being designed for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 only. However, that might change in the future.
The official statement that PDP has provided to IGN regarding the manufacture of the controllers and their design says that they are still in development meaning that the thing might actually look a little different when it ships:
The Mortal Kombat X controller that we showed at the GameStop Expo is still in development, so platforms have not been finalized. We like to work with the manufacturers to get a licensed product when possible. The controllers are designed along the lines of our VS Fight Pads which came out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 a few years back.
It also goes on to shed some light on the prominent stick saying that it also has ‘a series of micro-switches as well,’ apparently it is supposed to provide a more classic arcade touch to the controller.
Mortal Kombat X is going to be released to Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on April 14, 2015.
