Elite Dangerous: Mercenary Edition Detailed
Frontier Developments has announced a new digital pre-order edition of Elite Dangerous that will come bundled with exclusive in-game cosmetics and other goodies.
Elite Dangerous: Mercenary Edition is now available for pre-orders and will cost you $50 / €40 / £35 if you decide on getting it before release. Those who were Alpha and Beta backers of the game will automatically be handed over a copy of the Mercenary Edition
The bundle contains a digital copy of the game, an extra Eagle fighter ship docked in a secondary location, an exclusive pack of ship paint jobs, a day-one ship decal, a digital players guide and a concept art digital book. Additional digital items and extras have been promised to be announced in the coming weeks.
Those who have already pre-ordered the game will receive everything that’s included in the Mercenary Edition too.
While the developer has yet to announce an exact release date, interested players can start playing the game right now by buying their way into the beta for $75. Doing so will also net you the Mercenary Edition.
Elite Dangerous is scheduled for release later this year for the PC and will then follow on the Mac three months later. It will be priced at $59.99 / €49.99 / £39.99.
Previously, studio boss David Braben hinted that the game could come out on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. “I don’t want to do something that constitutes an announcement, but we would be stupid not to support other platforms, including console,” he said back then.
