Rod Fergusson Discusses Gears of War, His Experiences and Studio in a New Interview
Rod Fergusson, the man who made his return to Microsoft as the head of new Black Tusk Studio, where his first task is to bring Gears of War title for Xbox One, has given an interview to Total Xbox, where he talks about the new studio, his experiences and the upcoming Gears of War title.
First of all, he talked about the new studio telling that people are extremely committed to make a name for themselves as they are taking this new entry in Gears of War series very seriously and they will try not to disappoint the die-hard fans of the franchise.
Yes, and that’s going to be our big focus – doing right by the fans and the community to show that Black Tusk understands Gears. You have to do it right before you do it differently.
Rod continued on to say that this time, due to more resources available for them at the studio, they would like to add a lot of new stuff to the game and take the series to a whole new level.
At Epic we were always super lean, we always had the smallest team possible, we were always sort of understaffed and overworked so we weren’t able to fully take advantage of what the franchise could do.
So one of the other reasons I’m excited about having Gears of War at Microsoft is that we can actually see Gears do more than just any one particular instance. There are just a lot more opportunities because we have more resources to do that.
Rod Fergusson also shed some light on his time at Irrational Studios as he stated that it was a great experience for him as he learned a lot and he realized that the Irrational studio puts more focus on the game’s story whereas at Epic the first focus was gameplay.
Gears of War is still a long way away from its release, but it is good to know that the lead of the game is the one who has worked on the franchise before, as he will be able to guide the people to develop yet another amazing entry in the series.
