Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate also Coming to Wii U?

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is one of the most anticipated titles for Nintendo’s 3DS and its exclusivity to the console even had fans of the franchise across other platforms in quite an uproar. Well now it seems the game will not be a 3DS exclusive.

If these recent images of the game’s banners from Connichi, an anime convention in Germany are to be believed, the game might be heading to Nintendo’s Wii U console.

There is no word regarding the game being in development for Nintendo’s home console system from Nintendo or Capcom so it could be some sort of a misprint, or it could be a surprise, probably to be announced during Tokyo Game Show 2014 starting from 18th September.

The series, which originally began as a fantasy action rpg title on Sony’s PlayStation 2 console, allows players to roam around an open world hunting down and killing or capturing various monsters.

Unlike its predecessor, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will also allow players to play online with others even if they are not from the same region which means North American and European 3DS users will be able to play together, a functionality which was added to Monster Hunter 3 pretty late after release.

The game is set to be released in Japan in October, 2014 while the Western release date is scheduled for early 2015.
