Often times, trailers need to be all in your face and full of flash to be captivating or memorable, but the latest cinematic clip from Starpoint Gemini 2 has caught our eye for another reason. Publisher iceberg Interactive has released the trailer in anticipation of a full launch away from Early Access on Steam, which should be coming any day now.

In the clip, we see the standard space battle being set up, with small ships flying in a squadron on a backdrop of some luminescent galaxy.  The interesting part here is that the colors of the models sort of look like a hand-painted motion comic, yet their behavior would indicate more of a traditional cardboard prop model.

To really make it shine, the whole thing is laced in post processing, lights are added and hazes obscure parts that could solidify any one style. It’s quite captivating that the Starpoint Gemini 2 trailer holds in itself several art directions and yet it blends perfectly into one.

Anyway, the battles then goes full blast and we get to see some different angles that you can take when playing them game. In the normal spacefaring tropes, you’ll be able to choose between a pirate, warrior or trader model to build out your prestige.

Starpoint Gemini 2 will add an update to its Early Access build today. Its most prominent feature is that it will have full controller support to make the game playable through Steam Big Picture.

There are also several optimizations to increase performance and music will now shift to battle tunes when appropriate.
