Xbox One Only Sold 23,562 Units in its First Week in Japan
The Xbox brand hasn’t been a big deal in Japan and it looks like that the trend is going to continue, because the Xbox One within its first week of sale has managed to sell just 23,562 units, which is way lower than the Xbox 360 which got sold 60,000 units in just two days of its release in the country.
One the other hand, Sony’s PS4 was a success in its first week in Japan as more than 300,000 units were sold in first two days of its release.
Famitsu also provides a look at the software sales for Xbox One, in which Respawn’s Titanfall takes the lead with 22,416 copies sold including the ones bundled with the console.
Second spot in software sales is gained by Kinect Sports Rivals, which was also part of the Xbox One bundles in Japan and it managed to sell 14,191 copies. The third biggest selling game on Xbox One in the first week was Dead Rising 3 as it sold 7,330 copies.
The launch day of Microsoft’s latest console in Japan didn’t go very smoothly either, as there were more reporters to cover the event than the fans coming to purchase the Day One edition.
These are not the numbers that Microsoft will be proud of but it has been the case with Xbox consoles from the start as the country is more inclined towards Sony and Nintendo consoles.
However, there is still a long way to go for Xbox One and I am sure that Microsoft will try its best to get the attention of Japanese gaming community.
