Vanishing of Ethan Carter has a Healthy Period of PS4 Exclusivity, Says Dev

As you know, one of the most interesting titles for PS4 announced at Gamescom this year was Vanishing of Ethan Carter. The title is coming out for PC later this month.

When it comes to its appearance on consoles, the game is exclusive to PS4 but for how long?

Adrian Chmielarz is the game director on Vanishing Of Ethan Carter and says that even if the game came out on Xbox One, it won’t be “anytime soon.” Speaking in an interview, he shared his thoughts on the matter.

“We have seen the same thing with Outlast, that appeared on PC/PS4 first, and now is available on Xbox One as well. So I guess if your game’s profile is high enough, you can get past the parity clause gates. If it makes sense for us, we will try to get the game released on Xbox One. But honestly I have no idea if that will ever happen, and if it does, it certainly won’t be any time soon, as there’s a healthy exclusivity period for the PS4 version of Ethan Carter.”

Looks like fans of the game on Xbox One won’t be seeing the game on their console for quite sometime.

Furthermore, Chmielarz stated that the team at the independent studios “Astronauts” are completely focused right now on the game’s release for PC and  have not put in a lot of work into the PS4 version yet but considering that the PS4 architecture is very similar to PC, it won’t take long to port the game on Sony’s console.

Vanishing of Ethan Carter is expected to hit PS4 sometime next year.
