APB Reloaded Coming to PS4 and Xbox One, Character Import a Possibility
The free-to-play online game APB Reloaded is going to releasing for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year, Reloaded Productions announced yesterday during the Digital Media Wire event in New York.
The studio did not mention a specific release date but did state to expect the game around mid of 2015, which puts the game’s release around the summers.
CEO Bjorn Book-Larsson mentioned that the studio realizes many PC players would love to import their characters and purchases over to the consoles once the game is released. However, much as the studio would love to bring in a character importing feature, both Sony and Microsoft are showing “incredible resistance” to the idea.
Bjorn said that negotiations are currently underway and to hope for the best. He didn’t specify as to exactly why the platform holders are opposing the idea.
Since the game’s release is next year, there’s still plenty of time for Reloaded Productions to reveal more details about the game. Granted that it’s a re-release, but there’s also the possibility of the studio adding more features, missions, better visuals, or even enhancing the game mechanics.
APB Reloaded was released for the PC in 2010. It takes place in the modern-day city of San Paro where there is a constant battle between Enforcers and Criminals. Players get to choose what faction from the two they want to support and then the game sends them off to complete a series of objectives with the other side trying to stop them from doing so.
