Robin Williams Tribute Discovered in WoW: Warlords of Draenor

Following the tragic death of Hollywood actor and comedian Robin Williams last month, a petition was created online by World of Warcraft players which requested a character or any other related memorabilia in the game to pay tribute to the famed personality.

The petition quickly gathered thousands of signatures and now a NPC has officially been discovered in the game’s Warlords of Draenor beta that pays homage to the actor’s work as Genie in Disney’s animated film Aladdin.

The NPC was discovered by Wowhead user Haldhur who came across a mysterious item on an island near Talador, one of the new zones in the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

The item is named “the Ever-Burning Lamp.” Players have to interact with it to rub the lamp and on doing so summons a genie.

There are a couple of lines that the genie recites, all of which are references to Robin Williams performance in the Aladdin movie. Once called out the genie says “INFINITE COSMIC POWER!” and then shrinks, adding “Itty bitty living space.”

Near the lamp the player also found a large broken egg that according to Wowhead is a reference to the Williams-helmed sitcom Mork & Mindy. There are other small items as well that are possibly referencing his other works.

Besides the genie, two more character models have been discovered in the data files of Warlords of Draenor which are also possible tributes to Williams but these have not been located as of yet.

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor is scheduled to release on November 13.
