Madden NFL 15 MUT – Offensive and Defensive Team Builds

In MUT, you can take a challenge to other human players to compete with CPU-controlled teams in Solo Challenges.

Whatever your preferred game mode is, we have compiled a list of both Offensive and Defensive builds that will pave your way to the victory.

Do note that these builds are only meant to provide you with an outline and you can always combine them with your own ideas to create a unique build.

Offensive Teams

Team Build #1
This build is suitable for players who like to opt for a run game. The basic strategy behind this build is to trouble your opponent who cannot control the engagement and stop the run game.

Furthermore, it’s perfect to keep the ball in your possession and restrict loss of possession. Doing this will consequently allow you to end the games in the fourth quarter.

However, your defense needs to keep the game close at all cost to complement your playstyle. And lastly, teams running with an elite run-stuff defense can really put you in trouble so bear that in mind! This is how you need to upgrade the positions:

  • Halfback
  • TE
  • OL
  • Quarterback
  • WR

When we talk about playbooks, you need to consider something from Seattle Seahawk, Carolina Panthers, or San Francisco 49ers.

Recommended Cards

Elite

  • Aaron Rodgers
  • Blake Bortles
  • Adrian Peterson
  • Marshawn Lynch

Gold

  • Alex Smith
  • Eli Manning
  • Joique Bell
  • Matt Forte

Silver

  • David Wilson
  • Shonn Greene
  • Johnny Manziel

Build #2
With this build, the main idea is to make those opponents suffer who didn’t pay much heed to speed.

With the ground attack, you cannot attain a hundred per cent assurance of scoring every time, but you’ll most certainly witness your opponents left gawking. Try and design the whole team around the ground attacking strategy – even better with a quarterback.

When going with this build, although your speed-run squad including the single quarterback will shake the opponent’s defense by sticking to the edges, you’ll have to get some decent blocking on the part of TEs and WRs. Here’s how you need to upgrade positions:

  • Halfback
  • Quarterback
  • WR
  • OL
  • TE

Coming to the playbooks, one of the highly recommended playbooks is Philadelphia Eagles with its close affiliation with shotgun fans and various formation options that it offers.

Furthermore, it also offers a lot of quick passes which make it great with some decent WRs.

  • Tom Brady
  • Jamaal Charles

Build #3
Those players who have a thing for short passes and want to keep the chain intact will immediately find inclination with this build.

With this build, the only thing that must have is to get a quarterback with decent accuracy along with some decent receivers who have the ability to catch and catch in traffic.

As for the strategy that you need to stick to, it involves sticking to short passes and letting your TEs and halfbacks get the ball for an early score.

When going with this build, you’ll most certainly find yourself on an advantage against a team with pass-rush defensive line-up, but at the same time, you’ll struggle against a team with elite secondary.

Here’s how you need to upgrade your positions:

  • WB
  • TE
  • Halfback
  • Quarterback
  • OL

Coming to the playbooks that you need to choose from, you can check out Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, and Denver Broncos.

Recommended Cards

Elite

  • Jordy Nelson
  • Demaryius Thomas
  • Peyton Manning
  • Tom Brady

Gold

  • Cam Newton
  • Colin Kaepernick
  • Anquan Boldin
  • Eric Decker

Silver

  • Terrelle Pryor
  • John Parker Wilson
  • Dan Orlovsky
  • Ronnie Hillman

Build #4
Directly opposite of what Build #3 offered; this build revolves around those who can toss the ball downfield and left their opponent gawking at the scoreboard.

And although you’ll always be on the risk of losing the ball possession unlike Build #3, this is certainly one of the best offensive builds.

All that you need to make sure is to have a quarterback with decent throwing power and gigantic players with decent attributes for catch and catch in traffic to keep the things in your favor.

Other than this, you won’t be needing insane speed advantage with WRs and will perform exceedingly well against run-stuff defensive line-up. However, like I mentioned above, you need to have decent halfbacks and TEs.

Here’s how you need to upgrade your positions:

  • Quarterback
  • WR
  • OL
  • TE
  • Halfback

Coming to the recommended playbooks, Arizona Cardinals is a decent choice with its tight and spread passing sets. With this playbook, the only problem that you’ll encounter will be from the defense who likes to stick to the short passing game.

Recommended Cards

Elite

  • Julio Jones
  • Keenan Allen
  • Calvin Johnson
  • Harrison Smith

Gold

  • Colin Kaepernick
  • Robert Griffin III
  • Alshon Jeffery
  • Andrew Luck

Bronze

  • Tarvaris Jackson
  • Geno Smith
  • Ryan Mallett
  • Jason Campbell

Defensive Builds

Build #1
Often your opponent will primary focus on the run game to score an early win which can be really frustrating if you don’t have the right build to launch a counter-attack.

With this build, we’ll primarily be focusing on strength and block shed to render the running game of the opponent useless and leave them with next to zero options.

With this build, not only you’ll be able to add in extra players to the box, but you’ll also be having your LBs free which will eventually help out in making plays. However, there are some things that might put you in trouble and must be kept in mind.

Your opponent will always try to rely on speed and push to edges which might cause a problem. Furthermore, you cannot rely on the strength of your defensive line all the time since any decent offensive line-up will be able to shake it.

Here’s how you need to upgrade your positions:

  • DT
  • MLB
  • SS
  • DE
  • OLB

Coming to the recommended playbooks, St. Louis Rams is definitely recommended since it is designed to aid the players who plan to go against the teams relying on passing-game.

Other than this, it also offers 46 Bear Under formation which is better suited for players with an aggressive playstyle and want to control the engagements. Aside from this playbook, you can also go for San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers.

Recommended Cards
Elite

  • J. J. Watt
  • Earl Thomas
  • Mario Williams
  • Greg Hardy

Gold

  • Rob Ninkovich
  • Brian Robison
  • Justin Tuck
  • Derrick Morgan

Bronze

  • Ryan Shazier
  • Damontre Moore

Build #2
Now that we have dealt with players relying on the run-game, what about the passers? This build is designed to create a defense which can rush the passer.

You need to create something which will allow you to reach the receiver without spending too much time. This is quite important as it’ll not only allow you to pressurize your opponent, but also have your LBs to make plays.

Other than this, it’ll allow you to pressurize the opponent quarterback to make throws quickly and eventually go wide of the mark.

However, if you come across a team built with strong ground-and-pound build like my Offensive Build #1, you’ll struggle a lot. Furthermore, big receivers with amazing catch and catch in traffic attributes will render your strategy useless.

Here’s how you need to upgrade your positions:

  • DE
  • OLB
  • DT
  • FS
  • MLB

Coming to recommended playbooks, you need to go for something like New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, or Houston Texans.

Recommended Cards

Elite

  • Robert Quinn
  • Dwight Freeney
  • Von Miller
  • Terrell Suggs

Gold

  • Dontari Poe
  • Sammie Hill
  • Khalil Mack
  • Ryan Kerrigan

Silver

  • Mathias Kiwanuka
  • Jarvis Jenkins
  • Nick Perry
  • Calvin Pace

Build #3
This build can easily be regarded as one of the most versatile and tight builds revolving around defense.

With this build, you’re sure to have maximum protection across all areas of field with every players of the opposite team going through one of your players. However, you need to have decent quarterbacks to make plays after the snap.

And while this seems like the best defensive build, players relying on the passing game especially short passes will give you a tough time.

Furthermore, never pit your best defender against opposite team’s best offensive player – unless you want to lose the match-up.

Here’s how you need to upgrade your positions:

  • CB
  • FS
  • MLB
  • SS
  • OLB

Coming to recommended playbooks with this build is none other than 46 Defense. While this playbook may appear to be hard for most of the players, getting hang of things with it will definitely prove to be worthwhile.

It’ll not only allow you to change your offensive line-up into something entirely novel, but you’ll also receive a speed package which will add some CBs to meliorate the pass coverage.

Recommended Cards

Elite

  • Richard Sherman
  • Tracy Porter
  • Troy Polamalu
  • Brian Dawkins

Gold

  • Chris Houston
  • Terence Newman
  • Tyvon Branch
  • Bernard Pollard

Bronze

  • David Amerson
  • Byron Maxwell
  • Nate Allen
  • Trenton Robinson

Build #4
I’ve hardly come across anyone who underestimates the miracles elite defense can perform. The basic idea of this build is to render your opponent’s receivers as useless and make your defensive line to pressurize the quarterback while going with a man-to-man formation.

However, even with such good defensive setup come some loopholes. When going with this build, bear in mind that the mobile quarterbacks can have clear lanes for run-game if they somehow manage to get rid of the pocket.

Other than this, elite WRs have a significant advantage over DBs – so bear this in mind. Here’s how you should upgrade your positions:

  • CB
  • FS
  • OLB
  • SS
  • MLB

Coming to the playbooks, you should definitely consider Arizona Cardinals for it offers a great mix of tight and spread passing sets rendering opponent’s ability to setup a proper defense as useless.

Other than this, you can go for Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.
