Rise of the Tomb Raider FAQ Explains Platform Choice and Timed Exclusivity

The announcement during Microsoft’s GamesCom 2014 conference that Crystal Dynamic’s upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider would be an Xbox exclusive still has a lot of people still shocked and confused as to why this decision was made and what would be its impact on fans of the franchise who are on other gaming platforms.

While the developers have released various press releases to calm down players, they probably felt that more in depth explanation was needed and which is why they came up with a FAQ on Tomb Raider’s Tumblr site.

There has been a lot of confusion regarding the term “Xbox exclusive” making many people believe the game would be exclusive to Xbox One, however, the FAQ clarifies that on launch, the game will be available on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

In addition they also assured fans that Crystal Dynamic’s deal with Microsoft has a time period and the game will eventually be making its way to other platforms.

As to why the company opted for this deal in the first place and leaving a lot of fans out to dry, CD emphasizes on their long and successful history with Microsoft influencing their choice and to ensure that the best possible product was created for fans.

In the end the developers, apologize for any confusion their initial announcement at GamesCom might have caused. Rise of the Tomb Raider is set to be released sometime during Holiday 2015.
