RuneScape, EVE Online, Guild Wars 2, League of Lengeds; All Hit With DDoS Attacks This Week
A wave of DDoS attacks have hit servers of several popular online titles this week, including RuneScape, EVE Online, Guild Wars 2 and League of Legends. Suffice to say, players from each community have suffered at the expense of a few laughs from degenerates who are sitting away somewhere right now.
The DDoS attacks have caused players to be unable to login into the game servers, while others already logged in have either been cast out or have gone through terrible disconnections and lag.
In the case of League of Legends, Riot Games has stated that they are taking some new measures to hinder future attacks, whereas RuneScape developer Jagex has warned players to not participate in “dangerous/high-risk content such as PvP or high level PvM”.
“As you may be aware, we’re currently experiencing service disruption across both game and web services, this is affecting both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape,” Jagex wrote in the post. “We are aware that RuneScape (as well as other games) are being targeted by attacks which are causing connectivity issues for our players.
“We are doing everything we can to mitigate any impact on your gameplay experience – our Systems Team are currently working to improve stability across our core hosting platform to improve the situation.”
League of Legends and Guild Wars 2 are reported to be operating at full capacity again. RuneScape though is under process and will amend any ongoing issues soon.
